While at Pinfold Promotions I have worked as a Graphic designer and Print technician. As a Graphic designer I have designed many visuals for print see here and set up artwork to be out sourced e.g. business cards, transfers, stickers, leaflets etc.
I have also set up artwork to be printed using vinyl cutter and printed vinyl and DTF prints to garments and bags using the in house heat press.
Below are examples of print jobs and explanations of what role I had in creating these products.
Out sourced
A lot of Pinfold Promotions products are out sourced to distributers and only a few are printed in house by myself. A lot of out sourced products require a production proof as shown here but some I design ready for print such as the example below…
Above shows the print ready proof I designed for packets of flow bag sweets, with the bleed, folds and contour and also the final product printed.
Printing in house
Above are the two main devices I use when printing in house. The first is the Roland cutter, a plotter which takes a piece of artwork I have made into print ready artwork (by redrawing, mirroring and turning into a thin outline) and scores it on a piece of the reel of vinyl. Once it has finished I weed out the none image area using a scalpel (this can be time consuming). Once completed the artwork is ready to be printed as only the print remains on the backing plastic.
The second image shows the heat press, which is the second device which comes into play. Once at 150 degrees and set to 10seconds, the garment can be placed onto the impression bed (as seen above). The Vinyl is then lined up to the correct position and the heat plate is moved above and then lowered onto the garment, adhering the print to it.

Here is an example of a customer proof I made, this was to show my boss before printing what the product will look like (these are usually sent to clients) and then the final printed garment worn by be on the right. this was printed using the process described above.
Pinfold Promotions – Tote Bag
These Pinfold Promotions bags were printed slightly differently to the process above. Instead of using Vinyl because of the intricate detailing of the sheep and the use of multiple colours, the prints were outsourced CMYK DTF prints. These are sent to us and on meter length roles and printed using the heat press in the same way as vinyl.
Waitrose – Apron
To the left you can see another example of a DTF print on an apron for Waitrose. As the artwork has 4-5 colours and shade variations DTF printing is the least time consuming and most cost effective way of printing.
